21c Museum and Alltech Fortnight Festival present Hear+Now, the second concert in the series of new works by regional composers. Last year featured the album release of Book of Leaves by Rachel Grimes, followed by chamber and electronic works by Daniel Gilliam, Lou Moseson, Sara MacLean, Malcolm Turner, and Jacob Gotlib. This year's composers to be announced in August.
Hear+Now Music Series at 21C celebrates the vitality of new music composition by presenting works of emerging regional composers. Thursday October 7th will be the world premiere of Jeremy Beck's String Quartet #5, performed by the DaKappo string quartet. Viola soloist and U of K faculty member Deborah Lander will perform a piece by Paul Groh as well as a piece by Beck. Also on the program: a work for solo cello by Andy McElroy performed by Wayne Krigger, two a cappella works by Richard Burchard of Bellarmine University, performed by the Louisville Vocal Project, and the premiere of a string quartet by saxophonist Jacob Duncan.
